Legendary Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano has agreed to create an exclusive NFT collection to be released on the Astar blockchain. The partnership represents the first time Amano’s art has been used within the medium of Web 3.0, and the collection will bring to life his famous fantasy worlds and characters to an eager audience.
Astar Scores Big with Final Fantasy Artist
Amano is a renowned artist best known for his work on iconic collections and series’ such as Speedracer, Sandman: The Dream Hunters, and, most notably, Final Fantasy. He is recognised as a pioneer in his field, blending ancient Japanese art with Western influence to create impossible worlds that are admired and recognised throughout the world.
Amano’s collection, Candy Girl, which features 108 beautifully crafted angles, has already inspired clothing design at the Tokyo Girls Collection 2017 and high fashion at the Mitsukoshi Ginza’s Discover Tokyo event.
Astar and Twin Planet to Co-manage Collection
The Candy Girl collection will be managed by Astar Network, which will build a Web3 entertainment site for it in tandem with lifestyle metaverse portal Twin Planet, which represents Amano and other popular artists.
In a press release, Amano said he was happy to be producing work for a new audience:
“For people to see and appreciate my work is a bonus. It makes me want to draw even more. That was already the case when I was a child, and it hasn’t changed ever since.”
Sota Watanabe, founder and CEO of Astar Network, noted Amano’s credentials and explained how happy he was to land such a recognised star:
“Without a doubt, Yoshitaka Amano is a legendary artist in the 21st century. I am very honoured to be able to work with him and host his first NFT on Astar Network.”
Fans of Amato’s artwork will no doubt be extremely excited to see what the end product of his venture into Web 3.0 will be.
