Ubisoft & LayerZero Just Made Cross-Chain Gaming a Thing

Ubisoft is quietly becoming the blockchain gaming boss. DVN is their latest level-up, a trustless teleportation system for your in-game gear across chains. LayerZero’s the engine. Gamers win. And somewhere, a wallet just leveled up.

Gaming Goliath Ubisoft just dropped a new power-up into the blockchain universe: the Decentralized Verification Network, or DVN if you’re into crypto acronyms (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?).

Teaming up with LayerZero, the interoperability wizard of Web3, Ubisoft’s DVN is designed to teleport your digital loot across 130+ blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and the rest of the multichain madness, no wormholes required.

🛡️ Think of DVN like the TSA for your NFTs and game assets, except way faster and way less annoying. It checks your items, verifies them across chains, and makes sure no goblins (or hackers) swipe your sword, skin, or S-tier card along the way.

“We’re beefing up security and making this thing scale like a boss,” said Ubisoft’s Executive Producer Didier Genevois. “Gamers want to move their assets freely. DVN makes that happen without breaking stuff.”

But here’s the kicker: DVN doesn’t just help players. It gives game devs and studios control over where assets can go, keeping the bad actors out while letting the good vibes (and loot) flow.

Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero, gave Ubisoft a big ol’ thumbs-up: “They’re building an omnichain empire. We love to see it.”

🕹️ Ubisoft’s Been on the Blockchain Grind

This isn’t their first rodeo. Ubisoft’s been dabbling in digital collectibles longer than most gaming giants have been able to spell “NFT.”

  • 2021: They dropped Tezos NFTs into Ghost Recon: Breakpoint (cue mixed reviews).
  • 2023: Launched Champions Tactics on Oasys and Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. on Arbitrum.
  • 2024 and beyond: Gearing up for Might & Magic: Fates on Immutable, a mobile card brawler for the degens and diehards alike.
